Homes Caring for Autism (HCA)

BUSINESS OVERVIEW

Homes Caring for Autism (HCA) is a group of care homes based in Somerset specialising in residential care for young adults with complex needs arising from autism.

The business had grown to four homes and 20 placements with bank funding but was struggling to make the next step change.

OUR ROLE

Intrinsic invested for a significant minority stake, enabling the business to fund the development of a new home to meet the increasing market demand and enable the debt structure to be serviced.

Intrinsic was chosen ahead of other sources of finance because of its successful investment track record in delivering shareholder value in leveraged situations and our specialism in the healthcare services sector.

We provided valuable leadership support to the owner manager to help manage the growth in a controlled manner.

During the investment period HCA acquired its eleventh home and increased capacity to 63 placements.

In February 2018 HCA was sold to Care Management Group (CMG) providing a [10] times return on investment.
